Chief Allan Shields is retiring from the Town of Danville.

IN THE MATTER OF Recognizing Chief Allan Shields upon his retirement.

Whereas, Chief Shields is a 25-year veteran of the Contra Costa Office of the Sheriff, he had previously served as Investigations Supervisor and Administrative Lieutenant with the Danville Police Department, prior to his appointment as Police Chief in August 2017; and
Whereas, during his time serving the Danville community, Chief Shields developed and led outreach efforts to inform and connect with residents, such as the 10-8 in Service weekly live program, Citizen and Youth Police Academies, and Recess with a Cop; and
Whereas, throughout his tenure as Chief, the Town of Danville was repeatedly named safest city of its size in California, he has implemented many cutting-edge investigation and crime prevention technologies; and
Whereas, Chief Shields' mission was always to deliver superior municipal services that make people's lives better, he worked in partnership with the community to safeguard the lives, rights and property of the people he served; and

Whereas, Chief Shields unwavering dedication, along with the officers, provided innovative professional law enforcement services to all of the members of the community, dedicated to maintaining honor, courage, commitment, leadership and teamwork while always conducting themselves with the highest ethical standards.
