RECOMMENDATIONS:

 

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Contra Costa Senior Legal Services, in an amount not to exceed $319,978 for the provision of legal assistance and elder abuse prevention services, for the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

 

66% Federal, 34% State, all of which is budgeted for FY 25-26.  

 

BACKGROUND:

 

Contra Costa Senior Legal Services (CCSLS) provides legal assistance and elder abuse prevention services in Contra Costa County for the provision of Title III B Supportive Services – Legal Assistance program and the provision of Title VII Elder Abuse Prevention. CCSLS assists seniors and the disabled with housing, elder abuse, consumer prevention, public benefit, advance health care directives, and other issues.  CCSLS also provides Elder Abuse Prevention training at Senior Centers and other locations across Contra Costa County. 

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

 

Should the proposed action not be approved by the Board of Supervisors, seniors in Contra Costa County will not receive legal assistance and elder abuse services.
