RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of County Internship Agreement #78-081-1 with the Mt. Diablo Unified School District (MDUSD), an educational institution, to provide the District's student interns with healthcare workforce experience, career exploration opportunities, and internship placements in Contra Costa County's Public Health Division, for the period June 1, 2026 through May 31, 2028.

FISCAL IMPACT:
This is a non-financial agreement.

BACKGROUND:
Contra Costa Health Career Pathways partners with educational institutions countywide to provide healthcare workforce experience and career exploration activities for high school students. The purpose of this agreement is to provide MDUSD student interns with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge with applied skills at progressively higher levels of performance and responsibility. This internship experience for MDUSD students is considered to be an integral part of both educational and professional preparation. The division provides the requisite healthcare workforce education, while at the same time, benefitting from the intern students' services to the County's Public Health division. MDUSD student interns will be placed in summer internships focused on increasing knowledge, understanding, and skills in Public Health, prevention and community engagement. These educational services were determined to be exempt from Administrative Bulletin 600.3 solicitation requirements by the Public Works Department's Purchasing Division.
