IN THE MATTER OF: Honoring Colleen Awad for Eight Years of Distinguished Service to Contra Costa County

WHEREAS, Colleen Awad has dedicated eight years of service to the office of the District IV Supervisor in Contra Costa County, advancing from District Representative to Communications Director, and becoming a vital aspect of the office's governance, community outreach, and public trust; and
WHEREAS, she has brought to this role more than 15 years of multifaceted experience in local, state, and federal government, and small business, helping to bridge the gap between government and the communities we serve; and
WHEREAS, Colleen Awad holds a Master of Public Administration from California State University - East Bay and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine, where she also completed a Minor in Religious Studies; and
WHEREAS, she also holds a Certificate in Middle East Studies, and participated in the UC Rome Program and UCDC Internship Program; and
WHEREAS, as Communications Director, she has transformed how the District IV Supervisor Ken Carlson communicates with our residents by crafting inclusive and strategic messaging, producing biweekly newsletters, enhancing digital outreach, and organizing events to encourage community engagement; and
