Report Title: Final Settlement of Claim, Norma Calderon vs. Contra Costa County
Recommendation: Recommendation of the County Administrator
RECOMMENDATIONS:
RECEIVE report concerning the final settlement of Norma Calderon vs. Contra Costa County; and AUTHORIZE payment from the Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund in an amount not to exceed $70,000 as recommended by the Director of Risk Management.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund.
BACKGROUND:
Attorney Suzanne M. Aboujudom, defense counsel for the County, has advised the County Administrator that within authorization an agreement has been reached settling the workers' compensation claim of Norma Calderon v. Contra Costa County. The Board's October 20, 2026, closed session vote was: Supervisors Gioia, Andersen, Burgis, Carlson and Scales-Preston - Yes. This action is taken so that the terms of this final settlement and the earlier October 20, 2026, closed session vote of this Board authorizing its negotiated settlement are known publicly.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The case will not be settled.
