Report Title: Consolidation Request for the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election
RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE election consolidation request from the Mt. View Sanitary District, who filed a resolution with the County Clerk-Recorder-Elections Division and the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors to consolidate its election with the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election, and AUTHORIZE the County Clerk-Recorder-Elections Division to conduct the election.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Any additional cost incurred by the Elections Division will be recovered from the Mt. View Sanitary District. Consolidation of local jurisdiction elections with primary and general elections is more efficient than conducting separate elections and saves taxpayer money.
BACKGROUND:
The Mt. View Sanitary District filed a resolution, attached, with the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors requesting the consolidation of its election with the Primary Election. Granting the request will allow the Elections Division to consolidate the Special District’s election with the County's Primary Election, which will reduce the cost to the public of conducting the election.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Not approving the request will require the Mt. View Sanitary District to conduct its own election at an increased cost.
