Report Title: Library Closure List for 2026

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Librarian, or designee, to close all branches of the County Library according to the holiday and training schedule outlined in the attached "2026 Library Closures" list.

BACKGROUND:
Every year in the Fall, the County Administrator's Office sends out a list to all department heads of the holidays that will be observed during the following calendar year. Using this information, an annual Library Closures list is created and submitted (attached) to the Board of Supervisors for approval.
Note that those self-service Sundays that will precede a Monday holiday are recommended for closure to ensure building security during the Monday holiday closure.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should the recommendation not be approved, the libraries will remain open and staff will not be able to enjoy the same list of holidays that other County employees are able to observe.
