Report Title: Accept $30,000 Carnegie Corporation Donation to support the Antioch, Concord, and Walnut Creek Libraries
☒Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Librarian, or designee, to accept a donation in the amount of $30,000 from Carnegie Corporation to support the Antioch, Concord, and Walnut Creek Libraries.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$30,000 Library Fund
BACKGROUND:
The Antioch, Concord, and Walnut Creek Libraries have been selected to receive $10,000 each from the Carnegie Corporation of New York. This gift, totaling $30,000, is part of a nationwide initiative commemorating the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The Carnegie Corporation is donating $10,000 to all surviving Carnegie Libraries in the United States, as well as libraries directly descended from original Carnegie Libraries. Per Administrative bulletin 117.7, Gifts and Bequests to the County, "receipt of each gift or bequest having a value of $10,000 or more requires acceptance or rejection by the Board of Supervisors."
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The Library will be unable to receive the donation revenue.
