RECOMMENDATIONS:

 

Acting as the governing board of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, CONSIDER approving response to Civil Grand Jury Report No. 2607, entitled "Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, Ambulance Patient Offload Delays: Time is of the Essence" and DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to forward the response to the Superior Court no later than August 28, 2026.

No Fiscal Impact.

 

 

BACKGROUND:

 

In a letter dated June 8, 2026, the Contra Costa County Civil Grand Jury provided a copy of the Grand Jury Report No. 2607, “Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, Ambulance Patient Offload Delays: Time is of the Essence,” and requested a response to the findings in accordance with the referenced Government Code no later than August 28, 2026.

 

The Grand Jury requested responses from the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District Board of Directors. Since both the County and the Fire District share the same governing body, this response shall serve as the response from both agencies.

 

 

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

 

The attached response to Civil Grand Jury Report No. 2607 will not be approved by the Board of Supervisors, and the response will not be received by the August 28, 2026 deadline.
