Report Title:                     Add one Executive Secretary and cancel one Administrative Services Assistant II.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26274 to cancel one (1) Administrative Services Assistant II (APVA) (represented) at salary plan and grade ZB5 1475 ($6,435-$7,822), position number 14111; and add one (1) Executive Secretary - Exempt (J3T5) (unrepresented) at salary plan and grade B85 1445 ($6,249-$7,596) in the Department of Child Support Services, effective April 1, 2024.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Upon approval, this action will decrease annual costs by $4,776. Positions are funded by allocations from the Federal Government at 66% and the State of California at 34%. No impact to the County General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

The Department of Child Support Services has seen significant changes to its administration team. We now have a need for a more robust level of executive support. Canceling the Administrative Services Assistant II position and adding an Executive Secretary will better reflect the role this position fills and allow for a successful recruitment.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, the Department will not have the desired staffing levels aligned with its strategic plan goals and the Administration team will not have adequate support.
