RECEIVE public report of litigation settlement agreements that became final during the period June 1, 2026, through August 31, 2026.

BACKGROUND:

 

Two agreements to settle pending litigation, as defined in Government Code section 54956.9, became final during the period June 1, 2026, through August 31, 2026.

 

J.J.D. v. County of Contra Costa, et al., United States District Court, Northern District, Case No. 3:21-cv-04651-LB:  On March 17, 2026, the Board of Supervisors approved a settlement in this federal civil rights lawsuit.  The Board approved the settlement for $75,000 in closed session by a vote of 5-0.  The settlement agreement was fully executed on June 15, 2026.  The funding source is the Risk Management Liability Internal Service Fund.

 

Elvira Rodriguez, et al. v. Contra Costa County, et al.; Contra Costa County Superior Court, Case Number C24-02776:  On August 11, 2026, the Board of Supervisors approved a settlement in this motor vehicle accident case.  The Board approved the settlement for $75,000 in closed session by a vote of 5-0.  The settlement agreement was fully executed on August 21, 2026.  The funding source is the Risk Management Liability Internal Service Fund.
