From: John Gioia, District I Supervisor
Report Title: Add one (1) BOS Chief of Staff-Exempt Position in District One Office until December 31, 2025, and approve promotional salary schedule placement for one BOS Chief of Staff and one BOS - Specialist II.
☐Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26551 to:
1) add one (1) full-time BOS Chief of Staff-Exempt position 00002485 at salary plan grade B85 1021 in the District One Office until December 31, 2025; and
2) APPROVE promotional salary schedule placement of one BOS Chief of Staff employee at step 5 and one BOS-Specialist II employee at step 3 in the District One Office.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Estimated cost of $ 14,557 including $1,718.28 in employer pension costs, funded 100% by General Fund. The position is requested effective December 8, 2025, until December 31, 2025, when the current incumbent will exit employment.
BACKGROUND:
The District One Office received notification that the current incumbent in the position of BOS - Chief of Staff is planning departure of employment ending December 31, 2025. The District One Office is intending to allow for as much of a transition as possible. The District One Office plans to promote an experienced internal candidate into the new position.
The District One Office is also requesting approval for promotional salary schedule placement of one BOS Chief of Staff employee at step 5 and one BOS-Specialist II employee at step 3 which would be an exception to Management Resolution No. 2023/554 Section, Salary Upon Promotion from a Competitive Recruitment.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The District One Office will be unable to facilitate the knowledge transfer between the current incumbent in the position and the planned new appointment and would not be able to provide the salary step placement selected for the promoted employees.
