IN THE MATTER OF recognizing Clayton Pride for their contributions to uplifting the LGBTQIA+ Community



WHEREAS, Clayton Pride is dedicated to fostering a community where Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and other identities (LGBTQIA+) can thrive as healthy, equal, and respected members of society by advocating for equity, justice, and inclusion; and

WHEREAS, Clayton Pride was founded by a group of passionate volunteers and advocates committed to raising awareness and championing the rights and well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community; and

WHEREAS, in 2021, Clayton Pride successfully urged the Clayton City Council to recognize Pride Month and led the effort to raise the Pride Flag in Clayton for the first time; and

WHEREAS, in 2022, Clayton Pride organized the city's inaugural Pride Parade-the first of its kind in any city in Contra Costa County; and

WHEREAS, Clayton Pride seeks to ensure that all LGBTQIA+ individuals in Clayton and surrounding communities know they are welcomed, valued, and supported in their pursuit of visibility, dignity, and equality; and

WHEREAS, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, Clayton Pride held its fourth annual Pride Parade, proudly themed "Now More Than Ever, Love Matters"; and

WHEREAS, Clayton Pride continues to be a vital LGBTQIA+ partner in Contra Costa County, enriching the region through its advocacy, outreach, and celebration of diversity.
