Report Title: Advisory Council on Aging Vacancy

RECOMMENDATIONS:
ACCEPT the resignation of Julie Ortega, DECLARE a vacancy of the Member At-Large #9 seat on the Advisory Council on Aging for term ending on September 30, 2025, and DIRECT the Clerk of the Board to post the vacancy, as recommended by the Employment and Human Services Director.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact for this action.
BACKGROUND:
Julie Ortega was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to the Member At-Large #9 seat on the Advisory Council on Aging on October 1, 2023, with a term ending on September 30, 2025.
The Advisory Council on Aging (ACOA) provides county-wide planning, cooperation, and coordination for individuals and groups interested in improving and developing services and opportunities for older residents of the County. The ACOA provides leadership and advocacy on behalf of older adults and serves as a channel of communication and information on aging.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The seat will not be declared vacant and a new appointment to the position would not be able to be made. This could cause issues with achieving quorum for the Council and potentially impact their ability to hold meetings.
