RECOMMENDATION:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent to execute, on behalf of the Public Works Director, or designee, a purchase order with Insight, in an amount not to exceed $71,000 to acquire Microsoft development software not included with Microsoft 365 licenses, to be deployed to Public Works Department staff for the period of November 1, 2023, through October 31, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Roads, Flood Control, and Special District Funds
BACKGROUND:
Insight is a Microsoft Authorized partner/reseller of Microsoft Software.
The Public Works Department provides essential infrastructure services to the community, and its staff relies on a wide range of systems and software to support their operations. The acquisition of these Microsoft development software licenses will enable the Department’s staff to use the latest tools and systems, which will allow work to be completed more efficiently and effectively, leading to better service delivery to the community.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this purchase agreement is not approved, the Public Works Department will lose access to systems and software essential for the operation, maintenance, and development of department functions, workflows, and systems.
