Report Title: Final Settlement of Claim, Alexandra Vargas vs. Contra Costa County

RECOMMENDATIONS:
RECEIVE this report concerning the final settlement of Alexandra Vargas and AUTHORIZE payment from the Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund in an amount not to exceed $74,000.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Workers' Compensation Internal Service Fund payment of $74,000.
BACKGROUND:
Attorney Suzanne M. Aboujudom, defense counsel for the County, has advised the County Administrator that within authorization an agreement has been reached settling the workers' compensation claim of Alesandra Vargas v. Contra Costa County. The Board's July 22, 2025 closed session vote was: Supervisors Gioia, Andersen, Burgis, Carlson and Scales-Preston - Yes. This action is taken so that the terms of this final settlement and the earlier July 22, 2025 closed session vote of this Board authorizing its negotiated settlement are known publicly.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Case will not be settled.
