Report Title: Purchase Order with Data2 Inc. for Library Barcode Labels
RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, on behalf of the County Librarian, to execute a purchase order with Data2 Inc., subject to the terms of their Data2 Standard Proposal Terms, in an amount not to exceed $6,796 for the purchase of barcode labels.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Library Fund
BACKGROUND:
The Library uses barcodes to assign individual item numbers to each item it owns. This allows the Library to circulate physical items to the community members of Contra Costa County, to track individual items in the Integrated Library System, and collect item circulation statistics.
The terms and conditions include limitation of liability and indemnification language which was reviewed by County Counsel.
This Purchase Order is entered into under and subject to the following legal authority, California Government Code § 31000.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the Purchase Order is not approved, the Contra Costa County Library will not be able to provide patrons with items to checkout and use outside of the library, nor track the item inventory internally.
