Report Title: Approval of Contract for Specialized Professional Legal Services

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Counsel, or designee, to execute, on behalf of Contra Costa County and agencies governed by the Board of Supervisors, a contract for specialized professional legal serves with the Renne Public Law Group, LLP.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The funding for this contract will be charged to the General Fund.
BACKGROUND:
From time to time, the County requires specialized expertise in the areas of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and wage and hour litigation. The Renne Public Law Group, LLP (RPLG) has specialists in these areas and can provide the legal services needed in an efficient and cost-effective manner. RPLG has extensive expertise and experience representing cities, counties, and special districts in FLSA and wage and hour litigation, and the County can expect expert and prompt advice and representation in these areas. This contract will supersede all previous agreements between the parties in these areas.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Potential delay in advice in FLSA and wage and hour litigation.
