IN THE MATTER OF A resolution honoring April as National Volunteer Month, for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties, as recommended by Supervisor Diane Burgis
WHEREAS, the month of April has been designated "National Volunteer Month," the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano requests Contra Costa County's support in recognizing the impact that volunteers have on leading the fight to end hunger within our community;
WHEREAS, last year, the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano County hosted over 5,600 volunteers who provided more than 110,000 service hours, equal to approximately 50 full-time employees;
WHEREAS, the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano would not be able to serve the community without the support of dedicated volunteers;
WHEREAS, everyone needs nutritious food to thrive, and in every community in America, people are working hard to provide for themselves and their families. With the support of volunteers, the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano distributes more than 2,700,000 meals monthly to our neighbors in need;
