Report Title: Contract 40-493-2 with Meals on Wheels Diablo Region for the Title III-C Senior Nutrition Program

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Meals on Wheels Diablo Region, a non-profit corporation, in an amount not to exceed $1,628,426 for the provision of Title III-C Senior Nutrition Services for eligible Contra Costa County recipients for the period July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$1,628,426: 67% Federal and 33% State fund, all of which is budgeted in FY 2024-2025.
BACKGROUND:
Meals on Wheels Diablo Region provides Title III C Senior Nutrition Program Services for eligible Contra Costa County recipients to (1) reduce hunger and food insecurity; (2) promote socialization of older individuals; and (3) promote the health and well-being of older individuals by helping them access services that encourage proper nutrition, prevent disease, and promote health. The program provides meals, nutrition education, nutrition-risk screening, and nutrition counseling to older adults.
On June 13, 2023, the Board of Supervisors approved Item C.176, with Meals on Wheels Diablo Region in an amount not to exceed $1,760,025 for the provision of Title III-C Senior Nutrition Services for eligible Contra Costa County recipients for the period July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.
On June 25, 2024, the Board of Supervisors approved Item C.88 to increase the payment limit by $627,423 to a new payment limit of $2,387,449 and increase the number of congregate and home-delivered meals to serve additional eligible Contra Costa County residents through June 30, 2024.
