IN THE MATTER OF recognizing Neil Chandran as the 2024 Youth Hall of Fame Awardee for Teamwork.



WHEREAS, Neil Chandran is a Junior attending Monte Vista High School in Danville, and from the start, it was abundantly clear that he had a keen interest in being engaged with both his community and school campus; and

WHEREAS, Neil is a natural at working with others as has been shown by his involvement in the School Site Council and League of Innovative Students, and volunteering with kids with autism teaching tennis; and

WHEREAS, Neil most recently received the Presidential Volunteer Service Gold Award for his work with ACEing Autism and hopes to continue expanding the ACEing Autism program to other high schools in Contra Costa County to ensure families with special needs children are given the same athletic opportunities as every other student; and

WHEREAS, he has recruited students at San Ramon Valley, California, Dougherty Valley, and Campolindo High Schools, where he mentors the volunteers so they can start their own ACEing Autism school programs should they choose; and

WHEREAS, Neil continues his personal and professional development on neurodiversity by working with professors at UC Santa Cruz on research related to the development of an independent living and self-care-based virtual reality game for individuals with autis...
