Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Employment and Human Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Contra Costa Senior Legal Services to extend the term through September 30, 2024, with no change to the payment limit of $569,375.

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact.

BACKGROUND:

On January 10, 2023, the Board of Supervisors approved item C.49 authorizing the execution of a contract with Contra Costa Senior Legal Services (CCSLS) for legal services for the period January 11, 2023 through December 31, 2023. This contract is funded by the California Department of Aging’s (CDA) Home and Community Based Services (HCBS)/Older Adults Recovery and Resilience (OARR) allocation. On July 24, 2023, CDA issued a contract extension for OARR funding with a new end date of September 30, 2024. The amendment was delayed due to a contractor vacancy which delayed the start of the amendment process. Accordingly, this amendment extends County’s contract with CCSLS for HCBS/OARR-funded legal services to end on September 30, 2024, with no change in the total contract amount.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

County will not be able to take advantage of the state's OARR contract extension for legal services for older adults, persons with disabilities, and family caregivers in Contra Costa County. The county will forfeit any unused funds.

CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:

This contract supports the fourth of Contra Costa County’s community outcomes of the Children’s Report Card, “Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing.”
