Report Title:                     Add two positions and cancel one vacant position

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26232 to add one (1) Geographic Information Systems Analyst (LDVB) (represented) position and one (1) Information Systems Technician II (LTVB) (represented) position and cancel one (1) vacant Information Systems Programmer Analyst III (LPTB) (represented) position number 19957 in the Fire Protection District.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this action will result in annual cost wage increases of $93,365.52 for FY23-24. This cost is offset entirely with CCCFPD General Operating Fund.

BACKGROUND:

The District has experienced a large increase in systems and hardware, and geographic area due to the annexation of East Contra Costa County Fire District, the Pinole contract to provide fire service in that city, and the resulting increased service area and responsibilities. The District needs an additional Information Systems Technician II and Geographic Information Systems Analyst to support the extended area, as well as generate mapping for fuel mitigation and stay in compliance with required vegetation management grants.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without an additional Information Systems Technician II and Geographic Information Systems Analyst, the District’s Communications Division will struggle to maintain essential information systems, hardware, and geographic information system map layers, which are crucial to District’s ability to respond to emergencies and stay in compliance with grants.
