Report Title: Contract with Koefran Industries, Inc.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Animal Services Director, or designee, to execute a contract with Koefran Industries, Inc., in the amount not to exceed $46,800, and ACCEPT terms and conditions to provide animal disposal services for the Contra Costa County Animal Services Department for the period of July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This contract is funded by 58.4% City Contracts, 9.1% User Fees, 32.5% County General Fund.
BACKGROUND:
The Animal Services Department will continue to utilize Koefran Industries, Inc. for animal disposal services. The Contractor’s services include collecting deceased animals and biomaterial, including pharmaceutical waste from Contra Costa County Animal Services.
The Animal Services Department has negotiated special conditions for the contract, which include an amendment to the standard Terms and Conditions, Section 18 (Indemnification). This item has been reviewed and approved by the office of the County Counsel.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Failure to approve this contract will affect the Department’s ability to dispose of deceased animals and pharmaceutical waste.
