RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, an amendment to purchase order #028102 with Cardinal Health 200, LLC, to increase the payment limit by $171,000 to a new payment limit of $356,000 for the purchase of reagents, blood culture bottles, and other products as needed for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) with no change to the original term of October 1, 2023, through June 30, 2025.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in additional expenditures of up to $171,000 and will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I Revenues.
BACKGROUND:
Cardinal Health 200, LLC is a subsidiary of Cardinal Health, Inc., a global healthcare services and products company. Cardinal Health, LLC is a large American multinational healthcare services and products company. It provides pharmaceuticals, medical products, and services to healthcare systems, hospitals, pharmacies, and clinics globally. Cardinal Health provides a wide range of products relevant to diagnostics, including blood culture bottles, pregnancy test kits, and reagents for various testing platforms.
Cardinal Health offers comprehensive blood culture collection kits, rapid pregnancy test kits for early detection with fast results, reagents and calibration sets for diagnostic assays, including cardiac markers and multi-analyte tests. The laboratory has been utilizing Cardinal Health as a primary supplier for its medical supplies, with monthly expenditures amounting to approximately $19,000. To ensure continued support for patient care, it is necessary to allocate additional funds to cover the rising supply costs.
