RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute Contract Amendment with DRT Grading & Paving, Inc., effective January 31, 2024, to extend the term from January 31, 2024 to January 31, 2025, with no change to the payment limit, for on-call pavement maintenance and repair services at various County sites and facilities, Countywide.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Facilities Maintenance Budget. (100% General Fund)
BACKGROUND:
The Public Works Department, Facilities Services is responsible for maintenance and repairs of all County properties. Work done under this contract consists of paving and concrete work to County properties in support of facilities maintenance. Work may include pavement repairs and replacement, skin patching, sidewalk repairs, concrete flatwork, and hot mix asphalt paving.
Originally bid on BidSync #2009-423, DRT Grading & Paving, Inc., was one of three lowest, responsive, and responsible vendors awarded for this work. On January 5, 2021, the Board approved a contract with DRT Grading & Paving, Inc. in the amount of $750,000 with the term February 1, 2021 through January 31, 2024.
Government Code Section 25358 authorizes the County to contract for maintenance and upkeep of County facilities.
Facilities Services is requesting Amendment No. 1 to be approved extending the term from January 31, 2024 to January 31, 2025 for on-call pavement maintenance and repair services.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without the approval of this Contract Amendment No. 1, pavement maintenance and repair
services with DRT Grading & Paving, Inc. will discontinue and current projects underway will not be completed.
