RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, an amendment to purchase order #32757 with Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc. (dba Curascript Specialty Distribution) to increase the payment limit by $130,000 to a new amount not to exceed $241,271 for the purchase of the opioid use disorder medication Sublocade for the Martinez Detention Facility with no change to the original term ending May 31, 2026.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in additional expenditures of up to $130,000 and will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.
BACKGROUND:
Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc. is a pharmaceutical company that provides Sublocade that is used for Opioid Use Disorders (OUD). Detention Health Services will treat patients with OUD and a history of diversion within the Detention setting utilizing Sublocade Injectable. Treatment with Sublocade is effective in reducing withdrawal symptoms and craving for ongoing opiate abuse. In addition, the use of Sublocade will eliminate patients with OUD and diversion from being detoxed off the medication and, therefore, potentially overdosing on Fentanyl within the detention setting.
On May 30, 2025, the Purchasing Agent issued purchase order #32757 with Priority Healthcare Distribution, Inc (dba Curascript Specialty Distribution) in the amount of $111,271 to purchase Sublocade for Detention Health Services for the period from January 1, 2025 through May 31, 2026.
