Report Title: Relief of cash shortage for Health Services - Environmental Health
Recommendation: Recommendation of the County Administrator

RECOMMENDATIONS:
AUTHORIZE the relief of cash shortage in the Department of Health Services - Environmental Health Division in the amount of $400.00.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The cash shortage in the amount of $400.00 will be funded by the General Fund.
BACKGROUND:
In accordance with the provisions of Administrative Bulletin 207.7, the Auditor-Controller has verified and concurred with the report of a total cash shortage in the amount of $400.00 in the Environmental Health Division of Health Services.
The shortage occurred on April 30, 2026, and was determined to be the result of non-compliance with internal policies and procedures. It has been determined that further efforts to recover the funds would not be justified to the amount of the shortage and the improbability of successful recovery. Additional steps have been added by the Department to the policies and procedures for transporting and reconciling cash and will be included in internal training going forward.
As far as can be ascertained, the shortage was not caused by fraud or gross negligence.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The shortage will not be relieved, and cash will not be in balance.
