☒Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee
RECOMMENDATIONS:
ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26378 to reclassify position #8009 and its incumbent (EE #80863) from the classification of Medical Records Technician (VNTB) (represented) to Senior Medical Records Technician (VNTD) (represented) in the Health Services Department.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Upon approval, there is an annual cost increase of approximately $8,739.83 with an annual increase of $1,276.80 in pension costs. (100% funded by Mental Health Realignment)
BACKGROUND:
At the request of the Health Services Department, the Human Resources Department conducted a classification study on the Medical Records Technician (AFSCME, Local 2700) position #8009 (encumbered by employee #80863) in the Behavioral Health Division. The position's primary duties are processing medical records, training and providing lead direction to Medical Records Technicians and clerical staff engaged in medical records processing activities, and assisting Behavioral Health Administration with reviewing and updating policies, procedures, and workflows dealing with processing and storing medical records in the Behavioral Health Division of the Health Services Department. A thorough analysis of all information gathered indicates that the preponderance of duties is at the level of a Senior Medical Records Technician. As such, the Human Resources Department recommends that this position be reclassified from Medical Records Technician (VNTB) to Senior Medical Records Technician (VNTD).
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If this action is not approved, the incumbent will not be appropriately classified.
