RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE Budget Amendment No. BDA-25-00050 authorizing the transfer of appropriations in the amount of $156,042 from Library (0620) to Public Works - Fleet Operations (0063) for the purchase of two Ford Cutaway box trucks for the Shipping Unit.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% Library Fund.
BACKGROUND:
The Library is requesting Budget Amendment No. BDA-25-00050 to purchase 2 box trucks for the Library’s Shipping Unit to replace two box trucks from Library’s fleet. These box trucks deliver materials from library branch to other library branches and to Library Administration. One replacement is due to high mileage and continued truck mechanical issues (vehicle number 5758), and the other replacement is for a box truck that was retired 5 years ago. The Library has been using a rental truck in its place since its retirement (vehicle number 5723).
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, the Contra Costa County Library Shipping Staff will be continue driving one aged vehicle and will continue drive one rental truck with high rental fees.
