Report Title:                     Gift Cards for the Library’s Community Engagement Process for the Bay Point Library.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE expenditure of County funds to purchase forty (40) Target gift cards in the amount of $25 each for a total of $1,000.00 to use to support the Library’s Community Engagement Process for the design of the new Bay Point Library.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% Library Fund.

BACKGROUND:

The Library has engaged the architectural firm Noll and Tam to design the new Bay Point Library. Noll and Tam is subcontracting with Contigo Communications to assist with a community engagement process to receive input from Bay Point residents on the design of the new library. Contigo Communications will conduct four, 75-minute focus group sessions limited to 10 Bay Point residents each. Contigo Communications recommends providing gift card incentives to overcome the challenge of attracting community members to participate in focus groups.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Bay Point residents will be less likely to participate in focus groups and the county will have insufficient input from residents on the design of the new library.
