Report Title:                      ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26663 to add one (1) Assistant Director of Airports (9BNA) (represented) in the Public Works Department.

Recommendation: Recommendation of the County Administrator

RECOMMENDATIONS:

ADOPT Position Adjustment Resolution No. 26663 to add one (1) Assistant Director of Airports (9BNA) (represented) at salary plan and grade ZAX-1976 ($11,970.40 - 14,913.85) in the Airports Division of the Public Works Department.

APPROVE Budget Amendment No. BDA-26-01070 authorizing new revenue in the amount of $146,518.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This action will result in an additional $146,518 in salary costs for the current fiscal year, (which includes an additional $20,000 in retirement costs) (100% Airport Enterprise Fund)

BACKGROUND:

The Director of Airports is requesting to restore the second position classification titled “Assistant Director of Airports” to assist the Director of Airports on the administration side of the division (i.e., planning, lease management, business development, and community relations). After the retirement of the Assistant Director of Airports in 2024, the position was not backfilled due to budgetary concerns, which lead to the position being removed as a result of the 18-month rule.

Since that time, the Airport Enterprise Fund budget has improved where restoring this position is financially feasible. This position reports to the Director of Airports and will allow the Director to focus more time and resources on business and economic development at both airports.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this position is not approved, it will impact the ability to provide appropriate leadership and support for the Director of Airports.
