RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Health Services Director, or designee, to execute on behalf of the County Standard Agreement-Amendment #29203-108 (State #25-10164) with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), to increase the amount payable to the County by $7,248 from $19,006,640 to an amount not to exceed $19,013,888, for County to provide additional Supplemental Food Program services for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program with no change in the original term of October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2028.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this Grant Amendment will result in an additional amount payable to the County of $7,248 from CDPH for the Supplemental Food Program. (No County match required)
BACKGROUND:
Since 1974 the County has participated in the WIC Program with the State. This is a mandated program under the Community Health Services Division of the State Department of Health Services. WIC is a nutrition education, counseling and food supplement program for low-income, pregnant, postpartum and breast-feeding women, infants and children at nutritional risk. This program serves approximately 22,200 clients.
On October 7, 2025, the Board of Supervisors approved Standard Agreement #29-203-107 with CDPH, in an amount not to exceed $19,006,640 for the WIC Program, for the period October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2028. This Agreement included an indemnification provision requiring the County to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the State for claims arising out of County’s performance under the Agreement.
Approval of Standard Agreement-Amendment #29203-108 will allow for additional Federal funding in the amount of $7,248 from the State for the WIC Supplemental Food Program through September 30, 2028....
