Report Title:                     Cancel one vacant permanent-intermittent Medical Transcriber position and add one Clerk - Senior Level position in the Health Services Department

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Adopt Position Adjustment Resolution 26269 to cancel one vacant permanent-intermittent Medical Transcriber (J9WD) position number 14047 in salary plan and grade 3RX 1088 ($4,375.67 - $5,587.91) and add one Clerk-Senior Level (JWXC) in salary plan and grade 3RX 1033 ($4,433.81 - $5,662.16) in the Health Services Department. (represented)

FISCAL IMPACT:

This action will incur an annual cost of $1,431.00, including $209.00 in pension costs. This will be funded 100% by Hospital Enterprise Fund I.

BACKGROUND:

Over time, as technology has evolved, especially with the Health Services continued advanced use of electronic medical record software, and the Diagnostic Imaging Unit has realized a decline in our providers’ use of Medical Transcribers. Conversely, the Diagnostic Imaging Unit has noticed a growing business need for a Clerk - Senior Level position to provide general clerical support to the Radiologists by performing varied and complex clerical duties. Having a Clerk - Senior Level will help Radiologists focus on higher-level duties when performing diagnostic imaging procedures on patients. If this is not approved, there will be delays in patient care and the unit's clerical workflow will be inefficient.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this request is not approved, the Diagnostic Imaging Unit will have the incorrect organization structure which will have negative effects on provider productivity and workflow efficiencies.
