Report Title: Acceptance of the 2024-2028 Area Agency on Aging Area Plan

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the submittal of the Contra Costa County Area Aging on Aging 2024-2028 Area Plan on Aging for services under the Older Americans Act (OAA) and other State funded programs to the California Department on Aging (CDA) and AUTHORIZE the Board of Supervisors Chair to sign the Letter of Transmittal.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
The Area Agency on Aging (AAA), a division of the Employment and Human Services Department of the Aging & Adult Services Bureau, is responsible for providing services to older adults, persons with disabilities, and family caregivers through OAA and other funding sources administered by the CDA. As mandated by the OAA, every four years, the AAA is required to conduct an assessment of needs of its client population and submit a four-year plan outlining its strategies to address these needs. The AAA's previous four-year 2020-2024 Area Plan was approved by the Board on August 4, 2020, item C.39, and annual updates have been provided in the subsequent three years.
The 2024-2028 plan incorporates feedback from 13 focus groups, consumer surveys, key information interviews, and goals and objectives developed in partnership with the Advisory Council on Aging. The 2024-2028 Area Plan was presented to the public via a Public Hearing and approved by the Advisory Council on Aging on March 20, 2024.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Should the proposed action not be approved by the Board of Supervisors, the CDA will not approve the AAA's Area Plan, budget and payments.
CHILDREN'S IMPACT STATEMENT:
This item supports the fourth of Contra Costa County's community outcomes of the Children's Report Card, "Families that are Safe, Stable and Nurturing."
