Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

ACCEPT the Treasurer’s Investment Policy for the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 as revised and adopted on March 17, 2026 by the Treasury Oversight Committee.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.

BACKGROUND:

Pursuant to Government Code Section 27133, the Treasury Oversight Committee approved the revised Treasurer’s Annual Investment Policy for Fiscal Year 2026-2027 (the “Investment Policy”) at its March 17, 2026 meeting. The Investment Policy was revised largely due to the changes made in the applicable sections of California Government Code, regulations, and/or existing practice.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Contra Costa County Treasurer and his designees will not have established cash management and investment guidelines to follow when investing surplus funds entrusted to the care of the Contra Costa County Treasurer’s Office. Without investing, the County Treasury Pool will not be able to generate investment revenue via interest income.
