RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Clerk of the Board, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with Continental Interpreting Services, Inc., effective November 15, 2024, to increase the payment limit by $120,000 to a new payment limit of $310,000 and extend the term through June 30, 2026, for interpreting services, Countywide.
FISCAL IMPACT:
100% General Fund
BACKGROUND:
The Clerk of the Board is responsible for the management of interpretation and translation services for the Board of Supervisors, Fire Protection District, Housing Authority, some County Boards, and other departmental special events.
The contract with Continental Interpreting Services, Inc. became effective on May 1, 2021. The initial term was 13 months to June 30, 2022, with a not to exceed of $135,000. Amendment No. 1 with Continental Interpreting Services, Inc. raised the contract limit to $190,000 and extended the term through June 20, 2025. To reach the end of the contract period, the payment limit needs to be raised to $310,000. The term will also be extended through June 30, 2026.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Without the approval of this Contract Amendment No. 2, Continental Interpreting Services, Inc. will not be paid for services and will not be able to continue providing interpretation and translation services to the County.
