Referral History:

At its February 18, 2025 meeting, the Public Protection Committee (PPC) considered its standing referrals. The PPC made recommendations to the Board of Supervisors to continue the following referrals:

1.                     Opportunities to Improve Coordination of Response to Disasters and Other Public Emergencies.

2.                     Community Warning System.

3.                     Public Safety Realignment and Local Community Corrections Partnership Appointments.

4.                     Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council.

5.                     Holistic Intervention Partnership, with updates on an as needed basis.

6.                     Familiar Faces/A3/Stepping Up.

7.                     Animal Services Operations.

At its February 25, 2025 meeting, the Board approved the PPC’s recommendations. For the 1st and 5th referral listed above, the Committee approved receiving updates on those topics on an as needed basis.

Referral Update:

Establishing a proposed meeting work plan gives staff the opportunity to work closely with reporting departments and ensure timely referral reports for the year’s meetings.

The attached proposed work plan is a starting point and includes all standing referrals to be reported on in 2025. Several meeting dates state “TBD” to allow for PPC direction on any follow-up reports or flexibility for departments that wish to change their proposed reporting month. Any month where no referral report or advisory body seat recommendations are identified within two weeks of the meeting date, staff will communicate with the Chair to cancel the meeting.

Recommendation(s)/Next Step(s):

Receive a report on the proposed 2025 Committee work plan, and provide direction to staff regarding any changes thereto.

Fiscal Impact (if any):

None.
