The Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, California

IN THE MATTER OF honoring Peter Cloven, Clayton City Council Member, for the time he served as a Councilmember for the City of Clayton.
WHEREAS, Mr. Cloven was appointed to the City of Clayton's Planning Commission in 2017 and served for three years until 2020; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cloven served as Chair of the Planning Commission in 2020; and
WHEREAS, during his time as a Commissioner, Mr. Cloven heard challenging city presentations brought to the Commission related to parolee housing, the potential development of vacant city-owned land, and the Olivia Project; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cloven was elected to the Clayton City Council in 2020; and
WHEREAS, he was selected to serve as Vice Mayor in his first year as Councilmember and in 2022, he served as Mayor; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cloven was chosen as Clayton's delegate to the CalCities Conference in 2022; and
WHEREAS, in response to community sentiment, Mr. Cloven proposed the formation of a Fiscal Sustainability Committee, which was unanimously approved by the council. The Fiscal Sustainability Committee, a citizen-led committee, is charged with being the trusted voice of the community, independent from politics and city council bias to opine on fiscal considerations based upon their considerable professional experience as financial professionals; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Cloven served on TRANSPAC since 2020 ...
