Report Title:                     Reallocate the Salary of the Director of Hazardous Materials Programs - Exempt

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

ADOPT Position Resolution Adjustment No. 26300 to reallocate the salary of the Director of Hazardous Materials - Exempt (LVD2) from salary plan and grade B35 1995 ($12,895 - $15,674) to salary plan and grade B35 1995 ($14,193 - $17,252) in the Health Services Department with a retroactive date of June 26, 2024.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The fiscal impact of this action is estimated at approximately $25,000 and will be funded through program fees.

BACKGROUND:

On June 25, 2024, item 24-1954 was approved by the Board of Supervisors.  The items approval reallocating the salary of the Assistant Director of Hazardous Materials, resulted in salary compaction with the Director of Hazardous Materials Programs - Exempt. An internal comparison with positions within the Hazardous Materials Program was completed and the recommendation is to address the compaction by reallocating the salary of the Director of Hazardous Materials Programs - Exempt.

The Department is undergoing a fee revision, which will incorporate all costs associated with this action.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this action is not approved, salary compaction with positions reporting to the Director will continue to increase within the Haz Mat Division.
