Report Title: Diesel Fuel Payment for City of Pinole Contract
☒Recommendation of the County Administrator ☐ Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Acting as the governing board of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Auditor-Controller, on behalf of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (District), to issue a payment to Diesel Direct West, in an amount not to exceed $15,000, for diesel fuel for Fire Station 73 located in Pinole.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The fiscal impact is cost neutral. The Agreement with the City of Pinole provides revenues to offset the cost of fuel purchases required to serve the city.
BACKGROUND:
On January 1, 2023, the District executed an agreement with the City of Pinole (City) for the provision of fire protection services by the District within the City limits. The District assumed responsibility for purchasing diesel fuel to support District operations within the City. The City scheduled a diesel fuel vendor to deliver fuel to Fire Station 73, located on 880 Tennant Avenue, Pinole. This was not the District’s fuel vendor, and since the District uses a different vendor for diesel fuel it does not have an account to purchase fuel from the City’s vendor.
This request is to approve a one-time payment to Diesel Direct West for the outstanding diesel fuel invoices billed to the City during the period June 2023 through October 2023. In October 2023, the District began to use its approved vendor to supply fuel to Fire Station 73.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If not approved, the District will not be able to pay the vendor that supplied fuel for the District’s fire apparatus serving the City of Pinole.
