RECOMMENDATIONS:
DENY claims filed by Damien Ford; Michael Jones; the estate of Joseph Martino; Lisa Martino; Vincent Martino; Jason Pfister; and Latonia Stone Thompson.
FISCAL IMPACT:
No fiscal impact.
BACKGROUND:
Damien Ford: Personal injury claim related to excessive force in County jail in an undisclosed amount.
Michael Jones: Personal injury claim related to BART train derailment in an amount to exceed $35,000.
The Estate of Joseph Martino: Wrongful death claim related to failure to supervise adult care facility in an undisclosed amount.
Lisa Martino: Wrongful death claim related to failure to supervise adult care facility in an undisclosed amount.
Vincent Martino: Wrongful death claim related to failure to supervise adult care facility in an undisclosed amount.
Jason Pfister: Medical malpractice claim related to diabetic care in the amount of $15,000.
Latonia Stone Thompson: Property claim for alleged theft of jewelry and clothing at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in the amount of $700.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Not acting on the claims could extend the claimants’ time limits to file actions against the County.
