Report Title:                      Lease amendment for office space at 353 E. Leland Drive, Pittsburg

Recommendation: Recommendation of the County Administrator

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a second amendment with Contra Costa Children & Families Commission (First 5) to continue leasing office space located at 353 E. Leland Road in Pittsburg, for use by the Health Services Department's Black Infant Health program, to extend the initial term by 3 years for a new initial term of 5 years, with a new monthly rent of $2,964 for the period October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027, with annual increases thereafter, and two 2-year renewal options.

FISCAL IMPACT:

100% General Fund.

BACKGROUND:

The Black Infant Health program, operating under the County’s Health Services, sees pregnant mothers, conducts education, and promotes wellness. They have occupied this space since 2024. This colocation with First 5, who occupies the remainder of the building, is ideal. This site provides the space the program needs to run its programs and house staff.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If this lease amendment is not approved, the County will face higher costs to relocate the Black Infant Health program to a different site where it can continue providing essential services.
