IN THE MATTER OF: Recognizing National Nurses Week (May 6-12, 2025)


WHEREAS, nurses in the United States constitute our nation's largest health care profession; and

WHEREAS, nurses are the vibrant heartbeat of healthcare, delivering not just compassionate care, but also unparalleled expertise and unwavering support to individuals and communities across a myriad of settings-from bustling hospitals and clinics to schools, detention facilities, behavioral health, community health, and the comforting reach of a phone call; and

WHEREAS, the unwavering dedication, commitment, and hard work of the 1,547 registered and licensed vocational nurses, along with 86 licensed nursing managers employed by Contra Costa Health, significantly contribute to the health and well-being of our residents, in partnership with our 127 certified nursing assistants and 78 certified medical assistants; and

WHEREAS, nurses demonstrate unwavering professionalism, courage, and resilience, especially during times of crisis, ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services to all those in need; and

WHEREAS, nurses serve on the front lines, risking their lives treating the injured and sick during natural disasters and public health emergencies; and
