Report Title: Shimadzu Corporation
Recommendation: Recommendation of the County Administrator

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Sheriff-Coroner, a purchase order with Shimadzu Corporation, in an amount not to exceed $107,184 and ACCEPT a Terms and Conditions for preventative maintenance, extended warranty and repairs for the Liquid Chromatograph Tandem Mass Spectrometer instruments used in Toxicology services by the Forensic Division, for the period October 26, 2026 through October 25, 2027.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this request will result in an expenditure of $107,183.80 and will be funded 100% by the General Fund.
BACKGROUND:
Shimadzu manufacturers the LCMS instruments that analyze biological samples for the presence and concertation of drugs. Shimadzu provides qualified field service engineers to perform the preventative maintenance and repairs. Instruments must be maintained, serviced and calibrated on a regularly scheduled basis to meet accreditation requirements.
Term and Conditions include a limitation of liability from the County to Shimadzu Corporation.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
If the Board does not approve, the laboratory will be out of compliance with maintenance of this equipment, which will result in the inability to provide timely Toxicology services of forensic samples.
