Report Title:                     Software End User License Agreement with Trimble Inc.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the District Attorney, or designee, to execute a Software End User License Agreement with Trimble Inc. in an amount not to exceed $3,000 for the purchase of a software license for the recreation of crime scenes in 3D for prosecutorial purpose, for the period May 1, 2024 through April 30, 2027.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this action will result in expenditures of up to $3,000 which will be reimbursed by the Cold Case grant from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. There will be no net county cost.

BACKGROUND:

The District Attorney’s Office needs to purchase a software license to utilize a Sketchup tool to recreate crime scenes in 3D for prosecutorial purpose and courtroom presentation.  This Software End User License Agreement includes indemnification for the County to hold Trimble Inc. harmless from any claims arising out of the performance under this agreement.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

Without executing the Software End User License Agreement with Trimble Inc., the District Attorney’s Office cannot utilize the forensic software for prosecutorial purpose.
