Report Title: Contract for Employment Investigative Services

RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the County Counsel, or designee, to execute on behalf of Contra Costa County, a contract for specialized professional services with Terry Roemer.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Services will be billed at the hourly rate of $380 per hour for legal and investigatory services and $400 per hour for testimony.
BACKGROUND:
County Counsel assists County departments with workplace investigations, preparing for anticipated litigation, and providing legal advice. Terry Roemer has specialized expertise in the area of employment law and litigation. It is anticipated that the services of Terry Roemer will be of assistance to the County Counsel in workplace investigations.
This contract supersedes the previous contract between the parties dated January 1, 2021.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
The County will be unable to obtain the firm’s services.
