RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Purchasing Agent, or designee, to execute on behalf of the Health Services Director, a purchase order with Draeger, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $748,972 and the Sale Agreement for the purchase of anesthesia machines and accessories for Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC).

FISCAL IMPACT:
Approval of this action will result in a one-time expenditure of up to $748,972 and will be funded by Hospital Enterprise Fund I revenues.

BACKGROUND:
The Operating Room at CCRMC currently has seven anesthesia machines that are past their product life expectancy and are experiencing frequent breakdowns, almost on a daily basis. Each machine is inspected every morning; however, while some may pass quality control checks, others do not. Additionally, machines that initially pass inspection may sometimes fail during surgery, posing a serious risk of catastrophic outcomes. Therefore, CCRMC is requesting the purchase of new anesthesia equipment to ensure patient safety and maintain reliable surgical operations.
