RECOMMENDATIONS:
APPROVE the plans and RATIFY the Public Works Director’s prior instruction to Contra Costa County Public Works Maintenance crews to install approximately 1.2 miles of no passing centerline along Balfour Road from Deer Valley Road to the City of Brentwood limits west of American Avenue and Country Club Drive, Brentwood area. FISCAL IMPACT:
100% funded by Local Road Funds.
BACKGROUND:
In the summer of 2023, Contra Costa County Maintenance crews restriped Balfour Road after completing a pavement resurfacing along the road to incorporate a no passing zone. The striping added a double-yellow centerline from Deer Valley Road to the City of Brentwood limits west of American Avenue and Country Club Drive. Approval of the striping plan is needed to formalize the changes to striping along Balfour Road.
CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:
Striping to incorporate no passing centerline along Balfour Road from Deer Valley Road to the City of Brentwood limits west of American Avenue and Country Club Drive, would not be approved.
