Report Title:                     Execute a contract amendment with CDM Smith, Inc., effective January 1, 2024, to extend the term date, Countywide.

Recommendation of the County Administrator Recommendation of Board Committee

RECOMMENDATIONS:

APPROVE and AUTHORIZE the Public Works Director, or designee, to execute a contract amendment with CDM Smith, Inc., to extend the term date from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, for continued on-call water treatment consulting services, with no change to the payment limit of $500,000, Countywide. (All Districts) (Project No: Various)

FISCAL IMPACT:

No fiscal impact as this amendment is only to extend the term of the contract.  Work performed under this contract is 100% funded by Federal, Local, State, and/or General Funds.

BACKGROUND:

The Public Works Department is involved in various projects in the County which require water treatment engineering services. The Public Works Department solicited water treatment service providers but did not receive any responsive statements of qualification. Due to a lack of responsive firms, CDM Smith, Inc., the current water treatment service provider, was given a sole-source contract for this work and will continue to augment Public Works staff on an as-needed basis. They will be used when in-house expertise is not available. This on-call contract amendment shall be in effect for one year.

CONSEQUENCE OF NEGATIVE ACTION:

If the contract is not approved, there may be a delay in completing projects requiring water treatment services.
